"Peter Kelly is known for his non-confrontational style which has proven to be a problem when trying to rein in some of the more outspoken councillors who have taken to directly challenging the mayor's and city employees' decision-making." removed as not NPOV Harleymcc 13:14, 7 December 2005 (UTC)harleymccReply

Kelly's Successes? edit

Can someone please list some of Kelly's successes as mayor. It's nice to see he's won several majorities but I'm still confused on his accomplishments and/or failures over his 8 years in the position? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.222.39.182 (talk) 19:34, 18 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:PeterKelly.jpg edit

Image:PeterKelly.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Political Party??? edit

Why are we adding a political party to a municipal politicians' infobox. This makes it appear to a reader that he is the Progressive Conservative Mayor of HRM, which isn't the case as political parties don't run candidates in municipal elections in Nova Scotia. Kelly did run for the provincial Tories in 1993, and was rumoured as a potential candidate for the leadership after John Hamm resigned, so chances are that he may very well be a party supporter, or even member, but look at the source provided. It's an opinion piece where the writer makes reference to Kelly being a party member, but is that a strong enough source to actually add to an encyclopedia? The only person who can claim with certainty that he belongs to the party is the subject himself, and as far as I know, he hasn't done that. His run for the party in 1993 is fact 1 and probably could be added to the text in some way, but adding a political party based on what a writer says in an opinion piece may do more harm than good, especially if he isn't a member to begin with. If by chance, he has confirmed that he belongs to the party, then a source for that would be essential. Cmr08 (talk) 02:44, 25 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Bias edit

I am not a fan of Peter Kelly personally, some parts of this article seem like a opinon piece and even an attack on him. This is not what I enjoy seeing on Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Newfiebullet24 (talkcontribs) 17:50, 23 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Based on the discussion, I agree that the executor of the will is a personal matter that needs citation that it should enter the realm of his bio and based on this have removed it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.175.57.4 (talk) 12:05, 12 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

The estate issue was a notable controversy involving Kelly's court appointed and public responsibility which played a notable role in the end of his career as mayor. These facts in the article are well-sourced and should remain.Letterofmarque (talk) 00:10, 30 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

The estate did NOT play a role in ending his career has Mayor. Peter Kelly didn't seek re-election due to his personal choice. The estate has nothing to do with his career or his duty as Mayor. It should be in his personal life is cited as all. It is incredibly bias to say that editorial articles are credible as factual sources.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.222.227.158 (talkcontribs) 21:45, 3 June 2014
