Needs more sections and copy edit

this article reads like an advert for Perkins

it also has no history section or anything about how the brailer was developed

So, IS Perkins a brand, or just a standard? I know nothing about this stuff, but reading it, it sounds like it's merely a standard (like: for how the keys are shaped, maybe sizes of paper) which is called "Perkins" *merely* because of having originated at Perkins School for the Blind. (Just like how Dvorak Simplified Keyboard is named after its designer, August Dvorak, but there's no such thing as a Dvorak Company.) I'd be much obliged if someone would clarify this in the article-- clarity for its own sake, as well as the fact that we don't want de-facto ads as entries, much less as entries being passed off as non-ads! —sburke@cpan.org (talk) 02:01, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

Perkins Products is a division of the Perkins School that manufactures and designs the Perkins Brailler. Perkins is actually a trade name in this context. Danrose909 (talk) 15:56, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

Hello. After saving this comment, I'll add an external link regarding a 'Braille-n-Print' machine which I have learned about via an elderly blind fellow who knew (and was helped by) the inventor. I don't have the time to add content to the article right now, but if I manage to stick around, I will do so. At that point, I will turn the link into a reference for the content derived from it. SMART Brailler

Undid the edit by DMacks (10 August 2016) removing all description of the SMART Brailler. While he is correct that it was advertising, the product is functionally different than the classic Brailler, and should not be completely disregarded. Danrose909 (talk) 18:46, 24 August 2017 (UTC)

Splitting proposal

There should be a separate Wikipedia page for braille notetaker. It is not appropriate that links to braille notetaker, a broad category with dozens and dozens of products just redirects to this page referring to a single product. Silver dot (talk) 12:57, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
