Why this article is titled as People's Consultative Assembly? I don't think if it really need to translate an article title from origin language in this case.--J Subhi 00:26, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

To keep it still in bahasa on titled/named so that specified as Indonesian article. In my opinion Majelis Permusyawaratan Rakyat may pronounciation as well by english speaking people. Translation in english just put in article content.--J Subhi 06:22, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

– Move to native name in Indonesian. There are no official name in english, the official DPR website even referred themself as "House of Representatives". There are also many similar article titled with the native name (example: Dewan Negara, Lok Sabha, Bundestag, Sejm, Oireachtas, etc). I'm not sure about this. I can see pros and cons. One pro (in favour), is that use of the bahasa Indonesia name would be more precise and would (hopefully) reduce the chances of any misunderstandings about which institution is being referred to. But one con (against) is that Wikipedia readers who don't speak bahasa Indonesia would find the terms strange. This is surely a problem? We are keen, I presume, to encourage non-bahasa Indonesia speakers to read about Indonesia. On balance, my own preference would be to use an English name which is accepted in Indonesia. A good source might be "The Jakarta Post." If this approach was agreed to, in some cases the current pages would need to be renamed to bring them into line with "The Jakarta Post" usage. As much as it will be an annoying workload to rename links, I say Weak Support - other non-anglophone countries have this e.g. Dáil Éireann, Lok Sabha, Bundesrat of Germany, Sejm etc. Though, I understand that there are many counterpoints and WP:AINTBROKE is at play. Strong Oppose Apart from this being English Wikipedia, English language media in Indonesia uses English language terms for these institutions, although "House of Representatives" is more common for the People's Representative Council. Can you provide a source that, before Wikipedia existed, most English-language media already called these institution like this. I think these titles against naturalness per WP:CRITERIA because majority of the readers who read this article is Indonesian anyway that already know the native name. Hddty. Hi. Sorry - I don't understand the need for a pre-Wikipedia source. However, as you say, the DPR website also uses "House of Representatives", which is a good argument for keeping the English language name.
