Object permanence discussion out-of-date/discredited edit
This article seems to indicate that young children are not aware that an object still exists if it's outside their vision. If you follow the link in this article to "object permanence", you'll notice that this idea is considered discredited in modern psychology. This very partial take on the general idea of peekaboo seems dubious as is. At the minimum, it needs a clearly labeled separate section. "According to a critical essay by X" obviously belongs with several of the statements that are inappropriate, as is, in the encyclopedia's editorial voice; for example, the encyclopedia should not be stating that the messianic age is an adult peekaboo anticipation of the off-screen, etc. Moreover, since this section isn't about the game, the fact that an essayist has hung it on the term "peekaboo" may not make it appropriate for this article; isn't object permanence the more general article about the cognitive phenomenon, and wouldn't the section on adult "peekaboo" phenomena belong there?
