Rename?

I was taught that it was Pax Mongolia not Mongolica... Invader05 01:50, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

The current version is grammatically correct latin ("of Mongolia"). --Latebird 09:37, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Pax Tartarica

I believe I read in some book a reference to a Pax Tartarica (ie the Tartars), is this the same as pax mongolica? Why one term over the other?--RexRex84 05:52, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Mongols are not Tatars. But see if you can find a definition of Pax Tartarica; it is likely a notable term that either needs to be redirected here or stubbed. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 19:37, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Mongols are not Tartars but I am almost certain that the phrases refer to the same thing. In some books it is called Tatarica and in others Mongolica. I think "Tatarica" is derived from the misuse of "Tatars" when referring to "Mongols," so the more correct phrase is "Mongolica." Gxlarson (talk) 03:06, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Plan/ To-Do List

Keep in mind that this is a very loose plan. The outline (at the moment) looks something like this

  • Pax Mongolica
    • Intro
    • Table of Contents
  • Beginnings (or a different title. something like the rise of the pax mongolica)
    • Rise
    • Post System (from what i understand the post system/route was important in expanding the empire)
    • Political System/Administration of Mongol Empire (this section will explain how the mongols' administration was effective in spreading trade)
  • World Trade System (The actual meat of the article; this section should be the longest hopefully. It will explain the world trade system similar to how Abu-Lughod does. This section will need sub-sections)
  • Decline
    • Plague (how the plague impacted the time period/ trade system/ pax mongolica)
    • Rise of Europe

then a reference section and external links and what-not

Division of Labour

Each person should be assigned one group of topics. Everyone should read the wikipedia articles posted above, and Piotr's lecture on the Mongol Empire (Week3 lecture) as well (for some good background info).

See Revised List

These are not rigid guidelines though. There are many more resources also. Everyone should work to help others in the other respective subject areas; we can all edit any part of the article. We will meet Wed. 14 Oct. and discuss this further. Gxlarson (talk) 22:15, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
