concern about a claim made edit

“The practice of slavery can be argued to have had a more detrimental effect on the male slave population than the female slave population, as white slave owners attempting to have sexual affairs with female slaves would often offer [the female slaves] more privileges compared to their male counterparts” This is a very problematic analysis. To try to reframe rape as a privilege, or as the reason for a privilege, is so chilling to me, because you manage to completely hide the trauma and violence inflicted on enslaved women by rape. This trauma, plus the fact that enslaved women were expected to do most of the labor of domestic reproduction in an oppressive environment makes it pretty easy to assume that actually men were more privileged at the time.
