Request for sources edit

I have seen in a lot of United States local government publications that there is a federal requirement for healthcare providers to conduct "partner notification" and encourage "partner services" anytime anyone is diagnosed as being HIV positive. However, I have been unable to find any primary directive or manual which describes the fundamentals of partner services. Does anyone have such a source?

There are lots of small studies and bits of local information about partner services online. Who has a aggregate study which combines information from lots of small studies about partner services or partner notification?

If someone directs me to sources then I will integrate them into this article. Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:48, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mental versus STI edit

The term "partner services" is being used a lot as since the advent of HIV, a lot more attention is being paid to how to stop the spread of HIV.

The term "partner services" also is frequently used in the context of domestic violence, wherein a person, frequently a woman, presents at a clinic after having been beaten by a husband or boyfriend. It sometimes happens that the clinic comes to believe that the male also needs counseling, and tries to engage him in some way.

Tracking people to stop an infectious disease is different from tracking a person who is part of another person's non-infectious problem, but the term "partner services" gets shared in sources for both of these events. Does anyone know better terminology or know of a precedent in the literature for standardization of terms? I am not sure that both of these concepts should be in the same article, although perhaps they should. Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:52, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Splitting out partner services edit

I agree that it's very confusing to have "Partner notification" (of STD's specifically) entirely rolled in to this article. It's clear that that it is a "Partner service" but it seems to have a lot of issues that need to be discussed separately from other partner services. These issues seem to dominate the article right now. I'm going to move "Partner notification" into its own article in the hopes of clearing some of this up. mcs (talk) 02:46, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for this. It does clarify things. Blue Rasberry (talk) 06:37, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
