Freeware vs Commercial

in order to download from the site. you have to pay $4.99 for a digital download. does this not make it more commercial software.

The article needs a large clean up really, as all of the information cited was about the completely free of cost version of the software. There are no reviews since then, and the SSD recommendations are no longer there (Corsair doesn't recommend it any more, for example). SourceForge Page Downloads removed

The article does not say it is freeware, the article says it is free software, which is software that that is distributed along with its source code. From the article free software, free software is primarily a matter of liberty, not price (users are free to do whatever they want with it – which includes the freedom to redistribute the software free-of-charge, or by selling it (or related services such as support or warranty) for profit. Freeware on the other hand does not cost anything but normally doesn't give any rights to redistribute or modify the software. The current wording does not need to be changed. Free Software goes even much, much further than just *showing* you the sources! Free Software grants 4 fundamental rights along with showing you the sources, which are:

Freedom 0: The freedom to run the program for any purpose.

Freedom 1: The freedom to study how the program works, and change it to make it do what you wish.

Freedom 2: The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor.

Freedom 3: The freedom to improve the program, and release your improvements (and modified versions in general) to the public, so that the whole community benefits.

• The article is clearly using unclear wording in order to hide the fact that it costs money to download. There has to be a way to clarify that, while it is free to modify, it costs money to obtain from the developer. Npaladin2000 (talk) 18:17, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
• Source code is not freely distributed anymore, anyway. IMHO, this article needs to be more specific, not everyone (very few actually) knows the real meaning of the "free" in "free software", and the fact that PM is now a paid download is rapidly dealt with in a very small, very missable sentence mid-article, while it should be stated in the summary box. 79.47.54.227 (talk) 21:30, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

Well what exactly are you paying for? The source code or for someone to put the it on to a DVD and the cost of the this physical media? Is it the same source code as is being provided free via download? --wintonian ^talk 23:39, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
