Background

• Guitarist Johnny Jenkins, who helped Redding winning on a talent contest at the Hillview Springs Social Club fifteen times in a row and similarly successfully at "The Teenage Party", left the band to become the featured artist with The Pinetoppers. ––> Guitarist Johnny Jenkins, who helped Redding win a talent contest at the Hillview Springs Social Club 15 times in row and also at the [whatever it is] "The Teenage Party", left the band to become a featured artist with [whoever they are] the Pinetoppers.

• Done. The Pinetoppers were a plain band, so I did not filled the "whoever they are".

• his second single, "Shout Bamalama" (a rewrite of "Gamma Lamma"), Who originally wrote "Gamma Lamma"?

• That was Redding, written during a trip to Los Angeles. Done.

• The first was "Hey Hey Baby", but studio chief Jim Stewart thought it sounded too much like Little Richard. What was the second? Also, link Little Richard.

• The second was "These Arms of Mine". Linked Little Richard.

Recording and release

• Put quotes around "These Arms of Mine" in the sample.

• In the 1963 session, "That's What My Heart Needs" and "Mary's Little Lamb" were recorded and cut in June 1963, the latter became one of the worst-selling singles by Redding. Semicolon after "1963".

• Some content here (i.e. second half of second paragraph, most of par. 3, middle of par. 4) should be put in a new "composition" section.
