OverDrive (radio show)OverDrive (TSN) – Since this is both a radio show and a television show, it should be disambiguated as "TSN" (the network that carries it in both the radio and television forms) rather than as "radio show". It should also be noted that "TSN" was the article's original title for this very reason, but it was moved in 2017 with no evidence of any discussion to support that. • Oppose - this is an issue that effects several articles (being both radio and TV shows). By network disambiguation is not supported by WP:NCTV and should not be brought back via the backdoor. This should probably involve a wider discussion at NCTV to find an accepted style that these set of articles can use. --Gonnym (talk) 06:57, 19 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
I don't care what is or is not "supported" by NCTV — I'm not specifically wedded to "TSN" as the disambguator if somebody's got a better idea, but this is not waiting weeks for somebody to get around to a "wider" discussion: some form of page move, to some title that gets the "radio show" disambiguator out of Category:The Sports Network shows and Category:Canadian sports television series and Category:2010s Canadian television talk shows, has to happen as close as feasibly possible to immediately, and it's much more important that this happen now than that there would have to be any sort of "all shows of this type must be disambiguated consistently with each other" rule in place before the more critical and urgent problem could be dealt with at all. While you don't care what a project-wide guideline says, one which is directly relevant to this RM you started, I'd point you to WP:RM#CM which does care and so do I. As such, I'll reaffirm my opposition. This fishing expedition isn't the place to decide new naming conventions (see WP:LOCALCONSENSUS). Also, I see no urgency in incorrect categories waiting a bit more, seeing as how they've already been like that for probably years. --Gonnym (talk) 10:03, 19 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Firstly, a genuine attempt to fix a problem is not a "fishing expedition". And secondly, the amount of time that something wrong has been in place is not a legitimate or valid reason to leave it wrong for indeterminate further amounts of time — the only legitimate response to wrong stuff is to fix it as soon as its wrongness is noticed, not to indefinitely suspend it. Literally nothing in NCTV says that a program that is simulcast on both radio and television has to be disambiguated as "radio show" even though there's a television component, so wanting this to be fixed somehow is in no way whatsoever a contravention of NCTV — there's not even one comma in NCTV, let alone any actual words, which indicate that the current title is correct or appropriate or mandated at all. NCTV only has bearing on what potential new titles might be considered, and does not mandate the retention of "radio show" at all — so the only thing that's open for debate here is what new name to move it to, because no part of NCTV says we have to leave it at the existing name. • I also oppose. The issue of articles for titles that are both radio shows and TV shows is a serious one, and "consensus solution" hasn't been devised yet. But I can guarantee that diambiguating "by network" will not have consensus support. The solution will likely end up being something like OverDrive (franchise) with OverDrive (radio program) and OverDrive (TV program) redirected to the article with "franchise" disambiguation. P.S. I would support moving this one to OverDrive (radio program) ("correct" disambiguation for radio), in the short term, though. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:37, 21 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
