SUrely there must be some comenty on the Irony that the assumption behind Nato was that it was the United States that would could come to the aid of Europeans, but that in fact the first time the NATO treaty was invoked to require military assistance it was Europeans and Canadian militaries that came to the Aid of the Americans.
