Spelling

I hadn't seen it written as "open mike" in any serious context previous to this, but then it might just be a regional thing. Some evidence does seem to support that both spellings are acceptable. Perhaps there should at least be some form of disambiguation page or the title could be "Open Mic/Mike Night". Just trying to fill in what cracks I can. (talk) 04:02, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

OPEN MIC NOT OPEN MIKE

Open mike is the common misspelling for open mic. This article was tagged for deletion, in proposal that open mic be the replacement article. But of course, open mic redirects here. Makes no sense, and where are the sources in the article supporting that open mike is the common abbrevation/usage? Dillon does make a valid point here. Compare the ghits for "open mic" and "open mike" (both with quotes). Mic gets 3,540,000, compared to mike's 587,000. –Chase (talk) 20:27, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Based on the Google hits, I think I'd have to support—possibly weakly—a requested move of the article to open mic. I don't see a compelling reason to prefer the current title, other than an essay currently in the external links of the article. —C.Fred (talk) 20:47, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

And to clarify, I'm the editor who deprodded the article. While I agree that the name may need tweaking via a move, the subject warrants an article, and deletion implies that neither Open mike nor Open mic should have an article. —C.Fred (talk) 20:51, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
