The version above is the one sung at the opening ceremonies ...

  • In fact, see Olympic Hymn, which is the one written by a Greek composer in 1896 for the inaugural Games and is performed to this day. In addition, each host nation is free to produce its own hymn/anthem, which is used only for that specific Games, and this is surely the status that Strauss's hymn had. -- ♬ Jack of Oz[your turn] 22:20, 29 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
