You are right @Pigsonthewing: that this is an example profile set up by ORCID for just such a purpose. However, the example ORCID profile had been changed to the ORCID profiles of this person and this person. This article (and also the ORCID website) lists both ORCID and ORCID iD, seemingly interchangeably. Is there a distinction between them?
