Citation-style

@Urve, sorry for not following WP:REFVAR, If I add more refs I will. I'm used to my trusty old reftoolbar and IMO this citation-style is harder for a lot of editors, perhaps especially new ones. But that doesn't matter, REFVAR does. I do disagree on removing links to publishers (or authors if possible) in the references, if we can add those, we should, it's good info for readers. Gråbergs Gråa Sång, don't worry about it, it honestly doesn't matter (writing is what matters, not this) - if you add anything, I can just convert it later, or if you'd like, I'd support moving to the normal citation scheme. My point in doing this is purely for maintenance in case I ever find the desire to work towards WP:FAC, which is unlikely. I will add the publisher links after checking out the template documentation on best practices - doesn't matter for me either way, I just hadn't included them when writing it and I know it can be a sticking point for some people when reviewing. No, that if only some are linked but some others aren't. At least, that's my impression. In any event, I have linked most now - will have to return and look at my clippings to verify those that I've left unlinked. By the way, I appreciate you taking a look at this small article and improving it. Much of Nebraska isn't covered by Wikipedia, and I suspect there are more incidents like this that remain unknown to us. Urve (talk) 11:43, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Considerations

Some considerations needed (unable to do right now myself - so note for self or others):

• Says 700 black residents
• Dales, p. 429 indicates the black population was actually probably up to a hundred -- article needs to present this contradictory information in context, but place more emphasis on this newer scholarship
• mention of liquor raid? probably undue unless can find more...
