There are 12th century records showing the church at Norbury to be dedicated to St Barlacus, which presumably is the Latin form of Barlock. What would be the Latin form of Barrwg? The Cork Finbar was called Lochan at baptism, and became Finbar later, so (pace Bowyer) he probably wasn't called Lochan after the marshy place where he founded his monastery. Bowyer took his information about John Fitzherbert being Governor of Waterford from another cleric who found the only reference to this in a library- and failed to note whereabouts in the library he found it.
