re. unbiased representation of Noah's Ark Zoo Farm as a visitor attraction edit

Back in July I attempted to remove some of the material on the main Noah's Ark page which i think is fair to say has been deliberately worded to portray NA's part-creationist viewpoint (more specifically in an attempty to subversively undermine it as a visitor attraction).

I would like, with permission from other authors to actually present a more unbiased and general description of the place and its business. I find it rather strange that so much discussion amongst yourselves about clear, honest quotes and text has resulted in a carefuly constructed anti-creationism stance. How is this inline with the ethos of wikipedia?!

I rather rashly (not having too much practise here) edited the text when it seems it would have been more prudent to discuss this first- but I request some changes. Particularly, with so much national media attention regarding the tapirs and Tigers (Keeper Experiences etc)(lets be honest, far more interesting to the lay audience than a debate over the veracity of creation science!) i think more time needs to be addressed writing about the Zoo, rather than the Owners faith, education and views?

Secondly, NA has won several awards and been shortlisted for others, and is unique in its operation as a working farm and zoo together where the emphasis is on a 'hands-on' approach for children to experience animals up-close. It seems to me that rather than reporting these or similar aspects of the business and the truthful popularity of the place, you guys are bent on making (and keeping alive) a quite obviously biased piece of work where it reads like any mention of non-creation based material has been added purely to make it seem acceptable to those who might be offended otherwise.

Are you happy to discuss some possible changes? I realise much work has been done by many of you so I don't expect a total re-write but perhaps some you can expect some input from myself?

2018 Updates edit

Noah's Ark Zoo Farm have been full members of BIAZA since the start of June 2018. Please can this be updated on this page: https://biaza.org.uk/members/detail/noahs-ark-zoo-farm JTurnerVS (talk) 12:35, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Could a section be added on Sustainability? The zoo uses compostable packaging for all takeaway products. https://www.northsomersettimes.co.uk/news/noah-s-ark-zoo-farm-in-wraxall-gets-rid-of-plastic-in-its-cafe-1-5382643 The zoo has a wind turbine, biomass boilers and solar panels on site to generate renewable energy. https://noahsarkzoofarm.co.uk/green-zoo The zoo has won multiple awards for their sustainable efforts. https://www.northsomersettimes.co.uk/news/zoo-picks-up-south-west-tourism-award-1-5392181 https://www.green-tourism.com/visit/noahs-ark-zoo-farm/listing-889/

New Animal Arrivals in 2018 included an African Bull Elephant from Vienna zoo, this move was facilitated through the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP). http://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/2018-04-23/shaka-the-african-bull-elephant-arrives-in-somerset/ 2 African Lion cubs were born at the zoo in August, the first born in the UK for 3 years. http://www.northsomersettimes.co.uk/news/lion-cubs-born-in-north-somerset-zoo-for-first-time-in-three-years-1-5741104 JTurnerVS (talk) 11:23, 30 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Bush biography section is a content fork edit

I removed the Bush biography sub section because it was a content fork and had no place in the article, the content being irrelevant to the main subject. My edit was reverted, I still feel it has no place here. If he is notable then a separate article could be created. Theroadislong (talk) 20:39, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I don't see how at least a short bio is irrelevant or a content fork. Without Bush, there's no zoo. John Foxe (talk) 20:46, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
We don't do this for other zoo articles London Zoo, Whipsnade Zoo, Chester Zoo, Exmoor Zoo, Longleat Safari and Adventure Park why do we need it for this article, it adds nothing to our understanding of the zoo and just promotes Bush, additionally the sourcing is appalling especially his own self published book! Theroadislong (talk) 21:01, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Because Noah's Ark Zoo wouldn't exist without Bush. Obviously this isn't at all a typical zoo. John Foxe (talk) 21:39, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
That is absolutely no excuse to include poorly sourced irrelevant detail of Bush's life. I'm guessing you have a conflict of interest here like many of the other users. Theroadislong (talk) 21:43, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I said I didn't mind if the bio were shortened, but this article treats a zoo that "promotes a form of creationism that includes a belief that the biblical story of Noah's Flood was an actual cataclysmic event," and you want to eliminate mention of how such a place came to be. Without Bush, Noah's Ark Zoo wouldn't exist. John Foxe (talk) 21:51, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Updating this page edit

Hi everyone,

Just had a look at this page and it is missing some up-to-date information. I would like to edit the animals section to be more accurate (I recently visited and it appears this page is very far behind current animal representation at the zoo!).

Additionally, having looked into recent news at Noah's Ark, it looks like there is reason to create an Awards or Accessibility section, as the attraction is now very well-known among SEN groups. I will make these changes this week provided nobody has any objections/input.

Thanks! Emmybris (talk) 12:23, 8 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
