Kinship system edit

The head man is described as "patriarchal", but the article does not way whether the Nipissing had a matriarchal kinship system, as did many Algonquian nations, or patrilineal. This determined the lines of descent and inheritance.Parkwells (talk) 19:32, 30 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Jean Nicolet de Bellbourne edit

In the early 1600s Jean Nicolet was under the employ of Samuel de Champlain. Nicolet stayed with the Nipissing for 8-9years. Taking a native partner Bahmahmaadjimiwin and having a child , Marie Euphrasine Madalane Nicolet.
