Talk:Nikwax Analogy

Latest comment: 15 years ago by Pjclinch

Just had quite a hack as the article as was seemed grammatically contorted and technically wrong in many respects. All sorts of wrong stuff about wicking, for example, which the link to the long OM thread should convince is not really on the money.

I hope my edit isn't seen as vandalism: please note I don't see the article as I left it as a good or complete one, but at least I think it's not nearly as wrong and filled with questionable suggestions (like designed to be worn next to the skin, that's Pile/Pertex) as it was. Needs more work, but then I need more time...

Thanks to others who've put in additions and corrections, though I did hack out "The weight problem can be almost eliminated by ordering from a specialist retailer such as Cioch (see "Clothes and Market" section below) who by custom designing the garment can reduce excess fabric and thereby almost eliminate the surplus weight. Off the peg jackets are known for their baggy fit which contributes to the weight issue."

That went because careful tailoring is no more applicable to Analogy than it is to any other garment, and it still won't remove the need for a pump-layer which is the fundamental reason the system weighs more: there's more stuff there to weigh something.
