145 batteries of missiles edit

145 batteries of missiles << What Nation? USA? Japan? Korea? Europe? or all? --Rheo1905 05:38, 30 September 2006 (UTC) 8 i can't tell you where all of them were but a significant majority were in the U.S. There are lots of abandoned Nike sites all over the northern half of the US. Wish I knew more.--Looper5920 03:36, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Replace image? edit

The Commons has a half-dozen images or so that are more illustrative of what the missile system looks like; the current image in the infobox, due to foreshortening and being blocked out by the launch crane, appears rather distorted and mis-represented. Would anyone object to one of those replacing it? Morgan Riley (talk) 01:41, 24 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

This image was original produced by the US Army so there should not be an issue with the source.--80.100.210.244 (talk) 17:58, 19 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hawk after Nike??? edit

Hi, In the 4 dec edit by Maury_Markowitz it was claimed that the Hawk was a replacement of the Nike. I have a different view. It started with the Nike (first Ajax then Hercules) as defense in the Hi-altitude area. Shortly after that the Hawk was introduced for the low area. For different technical/logistical/operational reasons the Nike was faded out. In the meantime the Patriot was developed and replace mainly the Nike. Over time the Hwak was also faded out because the Patriot could counter the 'new' operational thread. So as it is now described in the article it is wrong (despite the User:Maury_Markowitz edit) The Hawk was never the successor of the Nike.--2001:981:54D4:1:C1B9:C4EE:8AB4:C4B9 (talk) 21:21, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Actually I didn't write that :-) That was text from another page that I transcluded into the expansion, and I too disagree with the basis of the statement. Feel free to hack away! Maury Markowitz (talk) 21:49, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Nike was not replaced by Hawk . They were both deployed together ; Nike was a long range and Hawk the short range 11:13, 29 September 2017 (UTC)2601:5CA:4300:5F00:95AA:72A5:D92D:302F (talk)
