Motivation edit
I’m curious to know some background on this. What was Macmillian’s motivation for firing the ministers? Cherry Cotton (talk) 17:30, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
- Panic. The Conservatives were floundering in the opinion polls, had had bad results in both the Orpington by-election (losing a safe seat to the Liberals on a huge swing) and the local elections, and Macmillan was trying to get a lot of new faces in (he also sacked eight junior ministers) to revitalise the government.
