probably should be mentioning how much of the UD was in the Milton Keynes designated new town, and also the population increase from 6,000 in 1971 to howevermuch today. Morwen - Talk 22:46, 3 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Agree. Interestingly, Newport Pagnell Rural District did not include Newport, so it will not be easy to disentangle. --Concrete Cowboy 14:29, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Town charter edit

Some info about the town/market charter would be useful if anyone has it? --Concrete Cowboy 18:16, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Newport Pagnell is not park of Milton Keynes and, if you have been there, you would realise that there certainly is a distinction between the two.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.80.135.87 (talkcontribs) 14:33, 12 May 2007

The article does actually say that the Office of National Statistics considers it to be joined and does not draw that distinction itself. -- Roleplayer 18:36, 13 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

NP UDC edit

If somebody has the time and inclination, a section on Newport Pagnell UDC would be good. The Vision of Britain site would provide a starting point. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 16:44, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lead Filled Skeleton edit

Probably not for the main article, but I thought that those with an interest in the history of Newport Pagnell might be interested in this about the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul:

In the north aisle, the body of a man was disinterred in 1619, when it was found that the skull and other hollow bones had been filled with lead, of which that taken from the skull is preserved in the library of St. John's College, Cambridge.(http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=51174#s19 A Topographical Dictionary of England)

Further information regarding the skeleton can be found at http://www.joh.cam.ac.uk/library/special_collections/artefacts/miscellanea/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.23.54.142 (talk) 22:32, 16 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Transport edit

The current section discusses exclusivly roads, with no mention of bus (yes of course dear these go on the road). Even if there is no bus transport, which I believe is not the case this should be made explicit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PaddyBasher (talkcontribs) 21:42, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Nonconformism edit

Unregistered contributor 2A00:23C8:1382:F201:9166:B1C1:9117:A8E added this material:

  • During the second half of the eighteenth century the town became a focus for nonconformism and the training of evangelical clergy under the Reverend William Bull.

and I deleted it because (a) in doing so the editor deleted valid cited content which needed to be reinstated; (b) because it is not obviously notable in the history of NP as a whole; and (c) it has no supporting evidence. However, it would make a good contribution to a new section about "places of religious assembly" after item (c) is resolved.

Would the contributor please respond here please, with a view to improving the article. John Maynard Friedman (talk) 20:28, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
