Just because there is a photo evidence of a non-standard shield used on the former route does not mean the shield in the infobox needs to be changed. There are other current state routes that have non-standard route shields in places, but we still use the regular images the article infobox. Something like that should probably be discussed first, as there are project standards for this sort of thing. Even if changed, the shield should in SVG format and uploaded at Commons. --LJ (talk) 08:58, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
A note about the picture: The image file was uploaded without a license tag, which means it may be deleted soon if it does not receive one. Looking at the original Flickr file, it appears the original uploader has marked the image copyright as "all rights reserved". I believe the image may not be appropriate for uploading here (or at the very least, permission is likely required). --LJ (talk) 08:58, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Route signed as 8A at nevada/california border edit

On google streetview, there is a sign that clearly states nevada route 8A. I have linked the streetview site and im wondering if this means the route still exists. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.5574306,-119.999249,3a,75.5y,68.1h,86.17t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1soolV5lDKxyDToVI-odFXOw!2e0!7i3328!8i1664 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fluffy89502 (talkcontribs) 22:38, 16 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

The route is not active as it does not appear on published maps, NDOT route inventories, etc. (GoogleMaps not withstanding—they often show old routes years after decommissionings). The route was not retained during Nevada's highway renumbering circa 1976-1982. Most likely, the signage was never removed—this is probably one of the most remote parts of the state after all...
