Talk:National Register of Historic Places listings in Thurston County, Washington

Possibly missing a listing edit

Byrd House

Assuming the Olympia Heritage Register is right, and I can't think why it wouldn't be, there seems to be a missing listing:

  • Byrd House, 1106 Olympia Ave NE, Olympia.

Also, I believe, though I'm not absolutely certain, that the Bigelow neighborhood is listed on the NRHP as an historic district. - Jmabel | Talk 01:01, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

The Bigelow Neighborhood article doesn't say that the neighborhood is listed on the National Register. It says that the Daniel R. Bigelow House is listed and that house does appear in our list here. The Byrd House is listed in the Register as the Reinhart-Young House (same address). The Historic Property Inventory Form (available on the Washington State DAHP website) indicates that the house was built by George and Mary Byrd and was later owned by Cap Reinhart and then the wife of Captain Volney Young. It's actually a little more complicated than that, but I'll leave it to you to read the form if you're interested in the details. --sanfranman59 (talk) 01:39, 27 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ah, you are right about the neighborhood. Anyway, if this is the same house I'll add the picture to this article. - Jmabel | Talk 03:13, 29 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not listed/owner objection edit

It may be of interest that four buildings that may not be on the Register - Elkman shows "Not listed/owner objection" - have sequential NRHP reference numbers:

  • Donald Building - 87002646
  • Hotel Olympian - 87002647
  • Olympia Knitting Mills and Skoog Mfg. Building - 87002648
  • Security Building - 87002649

I wonder what's going on here. Perhaps all four had the same owner, who objected? - Jmabel | Talk 03:49, 6 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Photos needed edit

A finding aid only, not necessarily complete or acurate. Please do not place photos here, rather put them on the article page then remove the listing here.
