Missing places? edit

I noticed that http://www.nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com/AZ/pima/state.html has sites not listed here, for example Agua Caliente Ranch. What gives? --Pete Tillman (talk) 04:49, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sharp eye! That source is what i call "NRHP.COM", a private mirror site of the NRIS public domain data. The NRIS database has codes their programmer doesn't know how to take into account. For example they report some sites as current listings, with a listing date that actually is the delisting date, for some demolished buildings. Searching on the refnum at Elkman's infobox tool http://www2.elkman.net/nrhp/infobox.php, i see "Note: This property may not actually be listed on the National Register - listing code is DR". Elkman deliberately excludes DR code and some others from the county tables in his county-table-generator tool, also based on this same NRIS database. Actually i am not sure what DR means, whether it was delisted or whether the site was deemed eligible but an owner objection prevented it from being listed, or what.
So, for this site, you or i could add a note or separate table below the table of current NRHP listings, to describe it as a related, but non-NRHP site. I have to ask the National Register what DR code means for another situation in Oregon, too. Remind me if i don't get back to you about it. doncram (talk) 06:25, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Here's the story: http://www.geocities.com/fo_agua_caliente/index.htm Nomination was bounced, but resubmitted last fall: " Pima County is confident the revised nomination will be successful and Agua Caliente Park will soon be added to the National Register of Historic Places and preserved for future generations." Heh. Guess I don't need to find a photo yet. Very neat place, well worth a visit. Cheers, Pete Tillman (talk) 06:42, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Oh, okay, very good. You could add it to the article already, as a nominated one, in separate table though. Certainly hope u'll go get the pic. Not sure which is Agua Caliente, i may have been there. Went way in to some park like it to get a pic of a ranger cabin, took hours and hours to get there. I should add: the NRIS database has errors, so often when a state or other source contradicts, the error can be in NRIS. Me and others are accumulating apparent errors or questions, major and minor, at wp:NRIS info issues, and reporting them and, knock on wood, getting them changed. If you see a site name typo, a county or other location error, please feel free to add to that list. doncram (talk) 07:34, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sam Hughes Neighborhood Historic District edit

I've found information on the Sam Hughes Neighborhood Historic District (refnum 94001164, boundary increase 00001363). It's big - over 1100 contributing resources according to the boundary increase nomination form. But the district doesn't have an entry on this list. The boundary increase does seem to have been attached to the El Encanto Estates Residential Historic District entry, but I believe that's incorrect. Is there any reason not to add a row for the Sam Hughes district? — Ipoellet (talk) 03:42, 19 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

I agree, and have just tried to add the item to this list-article. Note I put in 1994 as listing date, not knowing a more specific date, assuming it is 1994 from the refnum. Its apparent 1994 listing seems not to be in the NRIS2013a database accessed by the NRHP infobox generator tool. I found and referenced the boundary increase in 2000 (for which NRHP2013a shows there is "See also: El Encanto Apartments" noted, suggesting that a NRHP place named El Encanto Apartments in the district was already NRHP-listed, which may have been the source of error, as this could be totally unrelated to El Encanto Estates Residential Historic District). And there is an additional documentation, referenced, in 2013. I am removing the apparently incorrect info that was recorded into the El Encanto Estates Residential Historic District row of this Pima County list-article. --Doncram (talk) 05:19, 19 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. The 1994 listing date is confirmed by the Weekly List dated 10/28/94, so I think we're on pretty solid ground using that. I've made a couple edits, including adding lat/lon for which I identified a mid(ish)point of the district based on boundary maps and text descriptions in the two nominations. I think this issue is all taken care of.— Ipoellet (talk) 22:02, 19 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
