Rivalries edit

I am removing the "other rivalries" for the time being. I think there ought to be a manner of defining rivalries, other than games between two teams being "heated" or full of jeering and counter-jeering. One will notice that the rivalries described, such as those between Ateneo and La Salle, La Salle and Letran, and so on are rivalries that are have emerged through a sustained duration of time, and were not merely "heated" games. There is probably more to interscholastic rivarly than aggression, but rather, a sustained series of wins/losses by both sides. So, is referring to an opposing team as a pastry sufficient? Is a so-called rivalry that emerged only in 2004 mature enough to be called a rivalry? I do not think so. Rmcsamson 15:33, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I get your idea, but that's why I added the other rivalries, perhaps some of the minor rivalries the NCAA have. And I've known that the hopia jeer has been going for the longest time, there were even brawls there. Circa 1900 16:09, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Letran-Mapua edit

I don't get why someone continually deletes the Letran-Mapua section. Can anyone tell me why? Also, we could get more rivalries, aside from Letran. Who are JRU's, UPHR's, CSB's and PCU's rivals? --Howard the Duck 03:55, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

PCU's closest rival would be Letran, but they have only been a title contender since 2004. Source would be PCU's school paper, maybe? As for the other schools, I don't think they've been in the playoffs recently, so I can't remember.--Lockex21 19:52, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Judging from this talk page, the Letran-PCU rivalry was added but it was removed... Although I'd agree they seem to genuinely hate each other, lol. --Howard the Duck 01:17, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

GA edit

I passed this GA nominee. Oustanding work. With more references, could be featured. savidan(talk) (e@) 03:57, 3 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

NCRAA? edit

was NCAA was called NCRAA for sometime?

i remember ten years ago, my friend gave me a couple of tickets for a basketball game featuring NCAA school members, it was then JRC (Jose Rizal College now a University) versus a school i forgot which, but i'm pretty sure that the name printed on the tickets is NCRAA. can someone educate me on this matter? thanks.RebSkii 17:16, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

NCAA and the National Capital Region Athletic Association are different leagues, maybe you watched an exhibition game or something... --Howard the Duck 07:30, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Mass moving edit

I'm planning to move all championship lists (like NCAA Philippines Basketball Championship into NCAA Basketball Championship (Philippines) in a couple of days. If you approve, you can do so yourself. If you disapprove or can come up with a better naming convention, state your objection/suggestion here. --Howard the Duck 09:17, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Since no one objected and/or gave a better suggestions, I'll be doing the moves. --Howard the Duck 09:26, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

LC-SBC rivalry edit

Can the denial now stop and finally add the SBC-LC rivalry here? After all that's happened, to say that there's still no rivalry between these two schools at this point is in denial, hehehe. --Howard the Duck 00:53, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

LC-La Salle edit

There were again edits on the Letran-La Salle rivalry part of the NCAA. I have supplied you with a source (Sunday Express Sports Page)that was neutral-meaning not from any of the two protagonist schools. But someone in Wikipedia kept on ramming what came from Green Archer.net which is a official De La Salle newsletter/magazine.

Of course being an official school newspaper/magazine, it would only site instances favaorable to themselves.

AS I had sent you a copy of the Sunday Express that covered the "riot". It was 5 burly men who had beaten up a Letran Student.

Back then there were chicken wire mesh seperating the sections of each school scheduled to play at the Rizal Memorial Colesium to avoid fights among the fans. There was a clear seperation at that time between La Salle (north side) and Letran (South side). This was also noted in the newspaper clippings I have sent.

Believe me, no one will dare wander off to the "wrong" side of the coliseum during the games. Most specially with GA.net reporting that "it was La Salle students who ganged up on a high school from Letran" in the "South side of the Coliseum-Letran side"? Those La Salle student wouldn't have survived!

We wouldn't want a revisionist attitude like the Japanese wouldn't we? History is past and it records everything. I'd like to put said revision under protest since it violates the "unbiased" part or at least remove that part of their claim that those "burly" men or better called "GOONS" of Cojuanco as La Salle students.--Frnndzr 23:37, 4 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The previous version stands fine. Replacing "said" with "claims" may connote La Salle was lying. The parenthetical statement is not needed; every person with common sense will understand you won't sit on the opposing teams' side of the stadium. And you don't need to repeat the description "five burly men" at the 8th paragraph when it is already mentioned at the 4th paragraph. --Howard the Duck 03:28, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Howard, they are lying!

Guess what i found out again? According to your old rivalry report Letran was suspended by the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) for 1 year for starting the riot. Guess who was the Chairman of BAP at that time? No less than Mr. Eduardo Cojuangco himself! Can you imagine? Matial Law under Marcos. Cojuangco is the number one crony of Marcos. Was the La Salle team manager. Was appointed by Marcos as Basketball Project Driector and at the same time-Chairman of BAP, which found Letran guilty!

Talk about judge, jury and executioner!

Getting dizzy watching the old magic box too long! But to bring out the truth-it's a small price to pay!--Frnndzr 12:28, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's not us who tell the readers what we think. We only present what is referenced. If you can get a ref that Danding controlled the BAP (it is true, but we still need refs), then we can say that "the Danding-controlledreference BAP suspended LC..." --Howard the Duck 15:43, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Uncited sections edit

Since this is a Good article, we need cites for every section. Currently the rivalry sections of LC-SBC and JRU-SSC-R doesn't have references. If anyone can't add cites I'll be hiding them until cites are found. Thanks. --Howard the Duck 11:26, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Sport sunday 1980.jpg edit

Image:Sport sunday 1980.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Roman Numerals edit

Don't the roman numerals in the logo "MMCMXXIV" equal 2924? Should probably be 1924 (MCMXXIV). BethelRunner (talk) 00:43, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
