There had been an excessive number of external links (mostly new ones added regarding the planned naval installation), I have tried to work them into the article as refrences, I have also removed some of the older news articles relating to the town.--Kelapstick 20:45, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Environmental disasters

I removed Category:Environmental disasters in Canada, there is nothing in the article to support that it should be categorized as such, and I don't remember anything like that the last time I was there.--kelapstick (talk) 19:23, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

I think there should be separate articles about the former town site and the military base. If others agree, what should the article be called?

Since I wrote the above I have come across two DND documents that referred to it as the Nanisivik Naval Facility. The facility will be a bit smaller than I imagined. And the management of it will be contracted out to civilians.

I thought of you, and the photos you have taken of Northern airports recently, when I came across an article on the casr.ca site, that compared Greenland airports with Nunavuts. About half of Greenland's airports are paved, and, according to the casr.ca article, only Iqaluit is paved. Geo Swan (talk) 02:42, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Nanisivik Naval Facility sounds OK but not quite as good as the others. I wonder how old that article was as Rankin Inlet Airport is also paved. And it looks as is ours will be done in the next 2 or 3 years, with the survey work having been done this year. Interesting the Greenland airports. Looking at Aasiaat Airport and Maniitsoq Airport, both short and paved but without de-icing equipment. We have two here but they are provided by the airlines. Nuuk Airport looks similar to us though the only reason we have a VOR/DME is that it was left in place after the class change of the airport. News: Invitation to Tender (ITT) issued April 2010 to build new housing in Nanisivik

See www.MERX.ca, use keyword "Nanisivik". Tender only open until May 4th, 2010, so after that the posting will be gone. Procurement is by Defence Construction Canada. Ballpark of project budget is $1-million. No indication in posting of how many units. Specifies: "modular housing".
