1989 edit

Conventionally, there is only one NATO summit for heads of state during a single year. The exception was 1989, when the "regular" summit in the Spring was supplemented by an emergency meeting in December. The editor who created this navbox template suggested that the article titles for these two summits should be distinguished by the name of the month in which the meetings took place. Yes, of course, I agree with that reasoning; however, I think it's better to append the dates in parenthesis after the more important information in the title.

In other words, I think that the date and location are arguably the most important information the title needs convey; and the months are merely included for disambiguation.

The editor who created the chart/graph on this page included no disambiguation, identifying both as simply 1989 Brussels summit. I have changed this page consistent with the changes I've already made in that navbox template.

This can be changed, of course, if some better way of handling this seems better ...? --Tenmei (talk) 19:35, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Summit names edit

I find it incredibly obnoxious that none of the summit articles use the word "NATO" in their names. The implicit assumption that no other summits exist in the world, other than Nato's. Talk about a total ego trip.... 184.78.81.245 (talk) 17:47, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Isn't Ukraine " a non-NATO country that does not take part in all NATO summits"? edit

"Switzerland, Sweden, Ireland, Austria, Andorra, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, San Marino, Finland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Serbia, Moldova, Malta and Cyprus are the non-NATO countries who do not take part in all NATO summits." This is unclear. What about Ukraine? Isn't that a non-NATO country that does not take part in all NATO summits? Arctic Gazelle (talk) 22:52, 5 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

2015 edit

Shouldn't 2015_NATO_emergency_meeting be included? Fephisto (talk) 20:42, 13 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Current “Participating Countries” list/section edit

The current “Participating Countries” list/section is misleading at best and NATO propaganda at worst. This section needs to be reworked. Wikipedia is supposed to be educational and neutral. The fact of the matter is 4 non-NATO countries have been at the last 2 summits with no plans whatsoever to exclude them from future summits. Try finding out the list of countries participating in this year’s summit and take note of the news blackout about which countries will actually be around the table.
