Baba Olatunji? edit

Please explain the presence of Babatundi Olatunji in the list of musicians on this album, since he died back in 2003. Rosencomet (talk) 22:22, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

That's a good question. Apparently Hart used a recording of Babatundi Olatunji's voice as part of the song "Slow Joe Rain", and Olatunji is listed as one of the musicians for that song in the CD liner notes. Here's another reference for that, from Relix: Mickey Hart Band Releases First Single, Announces Live Webcast. "The Mickey Hart Band have released the first single, 'Slow Joe Rain', off of their forthcoming album Mysterium Tremendum, due out April 10. You can download the track for free in exchange for your email over at Mickey Hart's website. On the single, Tim Hockenberry delivers lyrics penned by Robert Hunter. The song features guest appearances by Steve Kimock, Hunter, and vocal samples of Nigerian drummer/social activist Babatunde Olatunji." Mudwater (Talk) 23:13, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hey, I'm a big fan of Olatunji; I knew him personally. But just for the record, is it traditional to give someone a credit for an album when someone uses samples of your voice (or your performance for that matter) on an album nine years after your death? I mean, I don't object or anything, but it is quite a precedent, sampling being what it is. Rosencomet (talk) 01:58, 19 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure if it's traditional or not. I'm just going by what the CD liner notes say. Based on that, he should be credited. Mudwater (Talk) 02:23, 19 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
