Don't call someone Mayate edit

I just deleted "(known as mayate)" from this page. While trying to research this topic, I looked up what Mayate means. It is the Spanish word for beetle and is used as a derogatory term for gay men. I think that this was likely added to cause interpersonal issues as a result of misinformation and mistranslation. Please, don't use this word to describe the partner of a Muxe. They will be very offended and you will unknowingly have said something very unkind, thinking that you were being inclusive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.170.252.139 (talkcontribs) 00:00, 24 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Muxe is from mujer edit

The word muxe is thought to derive from the 16th century Spanish word for "woman", mujer.

AFAIK, mujer is still the Spanish word for "woman." The sentence needs to be clarified. 76.21.8.213 (talk) 20:28, 12 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
