Talk:Mount Sinai Morningside

Updated Name and Status edit

Once Mt. SInai took over these properties, they became individual units within the Mt. Sinai Health System. I wonder if it's worth separating these pages into Mt. Sinai West (formerly Roosevelt) and Mt. Sinai St. Lukes. Both have a history and notoriety all their own prior to the merger that took place before Mt. Sinai took over. There would definitely be overlap. Even if the pages remain the same, the title should probably change. I'm an amateur though, so want to put these ideas out there before acting on them. Agreed -- now that St. Luke's announced a new name and less entanglement re: Mount Sinai West. Ddnile (talk) 07 February 2017 —Preceding undated comment added 15:23, 7 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

i wonder whether "every possible field of medicine except [a long list of fields]" is really factually accurate or tonally appropriate. 38.98.88.2 (talk) 19:38, 22 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

There are like an infinite amount of possible medical fields; they have pretty much everything. I think it's okay. 146.203.130.213 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 16:30, 25 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Syms Operating Theater landmark status? edit

Is the Syms Operating Theater actually a designated landmark? The 1987 Times article cited nearest to that claim actually contradicts it, as they report that while the building was "identified [...] 'highest priority'" in 1979 and a hearing held in 1985, the Landmarks Preservation Commission "never actually designated the building". I can't find any documentation indicating that has since changed. Web resources that mention Syms as a landmark mostly claim that it was designated in 1979, which would appear to be a misinterpretation on their part. Rebranding status edit

Mount Sinai St. Luke's announced 07 February 2020 that it's new name is Mount Sinai Morningside, and that they are redefining the relationship between St. Luke's/Morningside and Mount Sinai West. I'm attempting to reflect on this page that news. Ddnile (talk) 07 February 2017 —Preceding undated comment added 15:28, 7 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks Ddnile for splitting the article. I did not notice that all the Roosevelt Hospital stuff has been split, but have been wanting to do this for two months. epicgenius (talk) 02:12, 22 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
    • We're on the same page. Edits on these two pages are much appreciated -- trying to pull them apart into separate entities like this was more confusing than anticipated. So many sources refer to both of them as St. Luke's-Roosevelt that a person has to do a forensic investigation to figure out which location they were talking about. In other words, thanks for your contributions. Ddnile (talk) richardw 02:27, 22 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
Ddnile, agreed. I distinguished most of the links to Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside just now, but had trouble with about 25-30 articles. It seems the news sources of the 90s and 2000s lumped the two hospitals together. epicgenius (talk) 03:10, 22 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
      • EpicgeniusThank you. It's a bit of a treasure hunt. I'll see what's left to unravel as time permits, but it seems like you did the heavy lifting for now. Ddnile (talk) richardw 14:13, 22 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
