{{Largest cities of Russia}} is malfunctioning

I believe {{Largest cities of Russia}} is malfunctioning. It is causing a second set of references to be display on the articles pages in which it is transcluded. Does anyone know why?--- Coffeeandcrumbs 00:42, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

@Coffeeandcrumbs: Looks like the template is just formatted with references, which I don't think is allowed. Any references inserted below the {{Reflist}} will automatically appear at the bottom of the page, so I'm not sure how this is ever supposed to work correctly. I removed the template. Lead

I'm not sure I've seen a lead like this before. It reads more like a Wikibook of World Records than an encyclopedia. Eperoton (talk) 04:28, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Moscow International Business Center

Why there are as many as five (5) photos of MIBC in this article, including collage? It's not the main tourism object of Moscow. It's not an ads of Moscow International Business Center! (And for me, as a muscovite, it's bad ugly copy of scyscrapers of USA or other Western countries). I think 2-3 (including collage) is enough. --Brateevsky (talk to me) 17:57, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

As a former editor of Moscow, this article has to be one of the worst city articles I have seen. There is way too many pictures that makes this article feel like a collage. Everything is disorganized. There are many headings that are not needed. The reason why the MIBC is popular because they're skyscrapers and are among the tallest in Europe. - 祝好,Sinoam(聊天) 01:32, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

Moscow Innovation Cluster

I have removed the paragraph about the Moscow International Cluster. I do not think it is notable enough to occupy so much space in the article about the city. It also is written as a promotional material and might be a copyright violation. Still the thing may desrve a short article on its own. Alex Bakharev (talk) 23:16, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

  • I have removed paragraphs about Moscow Innovation Cluster (yet again) and Moscow Electronic School both projects are very minor and I do not think they should be in the city article. They also are very promotional by the style and possibly are copy violations of the press releases. After fixing those problems I would encourage the authors to create articles about those projects. If you think the paragraphs should be here, in the city article please argue it on the talk first Alex Bakharev (talk) 02:19, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

Categorising by date first mentioned

As the date of establishment is not known, should the city be categorised by the date of the earliest mention in historical records? Please see and comment at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2021_July_27#Establishments_based_on_first-mentioned_dates. – Fayenatic London 14:17, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

There was a strong consensus not to categorise by the date first mentioned in records. I have removed this article from 1147 establishments. However, it is probably helpful for it to remain in category:12th-century establishments in Russia. – Fayenatic London 10:21, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

Volders megacity

Moscow is the northest megacity, but not the coldest. Chinese city of Harbin has lower winter temperatures with a population of over 10 million inhabitants, 2A02:A03F:8948:D200:A46D:81FE:6A8F:37E8 (talk) 19:07, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

Hatnote

@A bit iffy: Since the missile cruiser sank hits for this page have tripled, suggesting that most readers coming here are looking for the ship - until the ship stops being covered so prominently in the news I think we should keep it in the hatnote. BilledMammal (talk) 08:08, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

Fair enough.--A bit iffy (talk) 11:26, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
Please make sure it's temporary. While I did indeed come to this page looking for the ship, I was quite surprised to see it mentioned explicitly in the hatnote! I don't think it belongs there long-term. —scs (talk) 14:53, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

Sister cities

Kharkiv is no longer a twin city of Moscow, Belgorod, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk and Nizhny Novogod. Here and here is the sources, please correct the information, because the article is closed for editing by inexperienced editors. Thank you! ZERTINHO (talk) 12:06, 5 October 2022 (UTC)

Moscow has recently added a new vehicle registration code, 977, which I was going to put in Vehicle registration column Mxnko (talk) 21:31, 27 November 2022 (UTC)

that's like the second-biggest news service in Russia, please scroll down to the table and find Moscow in it. In can also provide photos of the vehicles bearing the new code I that saw on the streets, if necessary. Mxnko (talk) 05:09, 28 November 2022 (UTC)
@Mxnko:   Done (though the source is a little suboptimal). Colonestarrice (talk) 06:03, 28 November 2022 (UTC)

GA nomination?

What do you think about GA nomination? In general, the article is well written with many new illustrations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frontfrog (talkcontribs) 22:19, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

Portal Europe without Asia?

Moscow and Russia are in Asia, not in Europe (by larger, much larger part). External links section contains Europe only (as continent, template portals). This bias of joining Russia to Europe is present elsewhere in the world... Turkey is, following same pattern, in Asia. --5.43.81.203 (talk) 00:43, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

I think you should have taken a look at any map of Europe for where Moscow is located before making such comments. Mellk (talk) 23:23, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
@Mellk: Just add Asia before Europe in this part of the article. Moscow is not in Europe as I know and with maps I saw. --5.43.81.203 (talk) 09:31, 9 June 2022 (UTC)
Where have you seen maps showing Moscow in Asia? AndyTheGrump (talk) 09:53, 9 June 2022 (UTC)
You shouldn't argue with him, he is from Bosnia and Herzegovina and if he says that Moscow is not in Europe, Russians are not Europeans - he knows better! 2A02:A45E:72A7:1:527B:9DFF:FED0:561 (talk) 20:37, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
