Morrnah Simeona was truly a notable person in Hawai'i. There are quite a few newspaper articles about her and she is mentioned in a few books. Her system of ho'oponopono is the subject of a new book from Wiley that is selling well, so people will want to know more about her. One of her haumana, or students, Earl Pamai Tenn, is compiling the articles he has about her and giving them to me soon. I will continue to update as new info is presented. About the Rodman book reference edit

The Rodman book title sounds woo-woo. I would say it's about one-third good reporting on kahuna practices, 30% Huna and the rest I still need to research. It's about the best we have on Morrnah. Makana Chai 22:37, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

recognized as a kahuna lapaʻau (healer) by whom or what organization ? edit

The article says, " In 1983, she was recognized as a kahuna lapaʻau (healer) and honored as a "Living Treasure of Hawai'i" by the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawai'i.[5]" The Honpa Hongwanji Mission is a Budhist organization. They would seem to have absolutely no authority in recognizing her as a kahuna in the Hawaiian religeon. The sentence should be changed and there should be an additional citation if she in fact ever was recognized as a kahuna lapa'au by any recognized authority within the Hawaiian religeon. As written, the article is misleading and lacks a proper reference to support the claim she was recognized as a kahuna lapa'au. Perhaps she was, but by whom?

"updated"? edit

"...taught her updated version of hoʻoponopono..." I'm not sure "updated" is a proper description. I'm not sure what word is appropriate, perhaps, "new age", "holistic", or "metaphysical" are more accurate terms. It seems she is not teaching Hawaiian ho'oponopono. The article describes her teachings as a hybrid of many beliefs and practices that amount to new and different thing more accurately described as self-help psychic healing. It seems she created an organization that has become part of the new-age industry for profit.

Notice that the organization that succeeded her claims to teach their registered trade mark "Self I-Dentity through Ho’oponopono® (SITH®)". http://www.hooponopono.org/ They seem to be selling seminars to people and using "ho'oponopono" to market it while teaching something only loosely organized around the concept.
