Proposal for deletion edit

Though there is little doubt of the existence of Mohammad Taqi Pessian, many of the claims stated on the Wikipedia page are very extreme, often without citation. On the Aerodrome Forum, a website dedicated primarily to World War I aviation, there is a discussion of the legitimacy of the article (see link here). Many of the people on this website are very knowledgeable on the subject matter, and have arisen many points questioning the article's facts. To go along side this, much of the information that is most disputed over was added by a single contributor over the course of one day. Some of these uncited claims include:

  • Mohammad Taqi Pessian learning to fly and then transferring to the infantry - From the photographs provided, there is no aviator badge on his tunic.
  • Though the article claims that he shot down 25 aircraft in his service, he only received an Iron Cross, though, a Pour le Mérite would be easily awarded for this accomplishment.
  • To make this claim even less a statement in reality, he cannot be found on any German Empire aces lists, where he would have ranked within the top 50 through the entire war.
  • The references in the article are scant, and the ones that exist are disputable. The reference called 'faceofiran' (when viewed through archive.org as it was on May 24, 2007, as the page is a 404 error now) is in fact a copy-pasted article from the Persian Wikipedia on Gholamreza Takhti. (see here)

For these reasons and the others stated by the contributors on the Aerodrome Forum, I placed this article for deletion one week ago, and since one week has come and went, it may now be deleted. Any comments on this may be posted here on alternatively on my talk page. Thanks.
