Removed the claim that it is the largest public reference library in Europe, it was with out citation and more to the point isn't true. (passer by) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.133.254 (talk) 00:15, 25 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Largest reference library in Europe? edit

As a Glasgow local I've heard this said a lot, but as has been said earlier on this page, I'm not sure that it's true. (Define "largest", for a start.) Glasgow Life's history of the library says that at the time of the opening of the extension in 1981, it was "in terms of area, the largest public reference library in Europe." [source here https://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/libraries/Documents/history_mitchell.pdf] Any advances / other sources? Lirazelf (talk) 11:29, 18 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

A library by the same name in Canada edit

Noting that there was another Mitchell Library in Ontario, Canada. It was a Carnegie library. See List of Carnegie libraries in Canada. I figured it'd be a good idea to note this here in case anyone else was interested in digging further. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 20:10, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
