Fair use rationale for Image:AirlieDesign.jpg edit

Image:AirlieDesign.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I am a student at Muhlenberg College and will be working on this article for a class assignment. I plan on reorganizing the sections and adding sections such as "personal life," "career," and "famous works" and expanding on her biography as well. I also plan on adding references to the existing information. I also would like to add images of her works as well as a picture of the artist.Steph.solomon12 (talk) 18:19, 23 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Great work! I think it could be beneficial, or give the article more credibility to use internal links. For example, you can do this African American instead of just having the words African American. Or if there is a work of art you reference, perhaps you can do an external link to the museum website that it's on? Ar245891 (talk) 04:42, 19 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
You've done a really nice job with the article as a whole and added a lot of valuable information. I think the article flows really well, particularly the Biography section. I agree that you could add some internal links to give the article credibility, especially in the introduction section; I would recommend linking to the pages of folk art, visionary art, and surrealist art. Another small thing that I noticed was that the names of her paintings were not italicized in the Famous works section. Additionally, one structural note that I had was regarding the Famous works section. The first two paragraphs of that section discuss her style/technique, and therefore I would recommend putting that information in its own section or subsection, as it doesn't directly address any of her actual paintings. Overall, really good job! Ejunker08 (talk) 20:31, 23 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Date of Birth – December 12, 1892 versus December 01, 1892 edit

I noticed in March 2017 an edit was made, to add the DOB: December 12, 1892 and no citation was added to WP - it may have been in error.[1][2][3][4] I had a citation that read DOB: December 01, 1892,[5] so that was corrected today. I added a note here in case this needs further discussion.

Correction -- it appears the December 01, 1892 birthdate might have been in error since so many sources are using the other date. Her gravestone even reads "December 12, 1892" so I will change the article back today to reflect this date with citations. Jooojay (talk) 08:31, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
