Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo bid for the 2026 Winter OlympicsMilan–Cortina d'Ampezzo bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics – Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo are just two separate places working together so their names should be loosely connected with a dash, not tightly combined using a hyphen. The dash produces a compound, "Milan–Cortina d'Ampezzo", where the connection between the two might otherwise be expressed with the word "and", as in "Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo" > see MOS:ENBETWEEN. Hyphenating "Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo" connects the two together and produces a conjoined compound word. It implies that Milan somehow modifies Cortina d'Ampezzo, i.e. it's not just Cortina d'Ampezzo, it's Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo! > see MOS:HYPHEN. • Support – The en dash clearly conveys the parallel relationship, while the hyphen misleads making it look like one name. Dicklyon (talk) 04:25, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Support for linguistic clarity. Smith(talk)
