I don't think I'm really in love with the current last line (regarding that "some Republicans" want him elevated to a leadership position because of the presumptuous safety of his seat). It's sort of in a funny place and doesn't have any citation. Mkilly 05:05, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

There should also be a history re: Terry Crapo, Mike Crapo's brother, who was running for the Senate as well, but unfortunately Terry died of leukemia during his campaign. Many people adored Terry and believed he was destined for great things (including a more centrist world-view). After the demise of Terry, Mike was in a place to carry on his torch, so to speak, a la a lesser Bobby to a JFK.

Terry did not run for the U.S. Senate, and he died before Mike ran for public office the first time. Terry did serve two terms as a state Senator in the Idaho State Legislature. Although Mike admired his brother, he isn't "carrying on the torch." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.158.128.22 (talk) 13:05, January 8, 2007 (UTC-5)

Links

An Shwheeler keeps deleting a link I've added for reasons that have nothing to do with the style manual or guidelines of Wikipedia. I'd be willing to withdraw the link if he/she could demonstrate some violation of the common principles of this forum. But so far he/she has argued, first, that the material appended involved religion. Second, he/she said this isn't the place for "my" theories. The material is not mine, it is material I discovered and consider highly relevant to an important issue for which Mr. Crapo provided leadership in Congress. His words are quoted and discussed, and their context is discussed.

Mr./Ms. Shwheeler needs to stop kicking stuff off this page for frivolous reasons. This is not the personal page of Mr. Crapo's staff or political supporters, and there are guidelines within which posters can decide what to add. As far as my understanding goes, that's the purpose of open access content: to add to our breadth of knowledge, not to stake out personal territory. All Sen. Crapo's official sites are listed. If we want his official image, we can go to them. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Prestonmcconkie (talkcontribs) 11:52, 30 April 2007 (UTC).

You are adding a links and misrepresenting its content. The essay you are linking to does not even mention Senator Crapo, much less quote him on the linked page. The second part of the essay (which I had to go to manually since there is no link that works), mentions Crapo once, but again does not quote him. There is no compelling reason to believe that the essay truly represents or even frames Crapo's views on the subject of stem cell research. Just because he happens to be Mormon and the site is a Mormon organization is not compelling. Also, this article doesn't even cover the stem cell debate.-Cquan (talk, AMA Desk) 12:14, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Now, THAT is an explanation I can deal with. Okay, Cquan, thanks for helping me over the learning curve. I've checked out the guidelines for link spamming and I understand my sin. And I didn't realize the references to the controversy section were to a completely different article. I think the article from Trinity University would go well in there, and I won't try re-linking to the MormonCentury site. Preston McConkie 12:41, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

This article is blatantly biased.

It is so obvious that the selection of details about Mr. Crapo included in this article are design to paint him in a less than favorable light. I would suggest that it be edited to include only general information about his origins, education, family life, etc. All of the political stuff and the inclusion of his DUI arrest are obvious character assassination attempts. If a political history is to be included, it should be comprehensive and not cherry-picked as is currently the case. Wayniack (talk) 11:34, 10 May 2022 (UTC)Wayniack

You would have to identify specific passages, what you find objectionable, and what your proposed replacement text (and source) would be, if applicable. ValarianB (talk) 11:53, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
Political stuff is not unreasonable since he is a politician. On the DUI-thing, IMO it should be shortened per WP:PROPORTION, and doesn't need a subsection of his own. Nothing stops you from trying a few edits per WP:BOLD and see what happens. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:54, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
