For starters, it needs more Mercy: the title is actually "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy". If this had been right, maybe other Wiki pages might not have gotten some of their facts wrong when referring to this song. At least we can hope that Wiki writers and editors cross-check with other Wiki pages, now, can't we? That's the error of commission, even though it seems almost like omission, now that I think about it. So I guess I need to edit my own edit now? It should be clear enough what I mean, though, so "let it be." By the way, I know this title even though I don't have it in front of me, because I clearly remember getting if from a distributor when I was Music Director at WBRS Radio in East Lansing, Michigan, and playing it on the air as a weekend DJ/announcer there. Second, the Cover Versions List is good, but unfortunately incomplete, and in a very big way, too. Namely, the two biggest versions of this song ever recorded are left off for some unknown reason. One reached #5 and the other #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. And they were both in the same year of 1967, too, by the Buckinghams (vocal) and Cannonball Adderley (instrumental), respectively. Referring to other Wiki pages may help or hurt in this case, depending on what you need and where you go, since at least three Wiki pages have been noted at this writing to have basic errors in who wrote this song, among other things. Who would have thought? However, you can confirm the bona fides of these two recordings on at least one if not more of the pages in question, I am sure.
