Although http://www.unet.univie.ac.at/~a0200586/stuff/marathonfail.png is not a reliable source by itself, the content of http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/run-organiser-says-sorry-to-competitors-for-distance-blunder/story-e6frf9if-1225787071987 should be sufficient to confirm that the content of the "Marathonfail.png" file is legitimate.

If no-one objects in the next week I will remove the reliable source tag for this source. Gfcvoice (talk) 07:39, 17 April 2010 (UTC)GfcvoiceReply

Suggested name change edit

This page is currently called "Melbourne Marathon", however it also refers to the Half Marathon (21.1 km), 10 km and 5.5 km events. Given that these events are part of the same running festival, I think it makes sense to have Wikipedia entries for all four events in the one article.

As such, I suggest that this article changes title from "Melbourne Marathon" to "Melbourne Marathon Festival" as per the event web page:

Photo of competitor collapsing edit

"A competitor collapses just prior to the finish line of the 2006 Melbourne Marathon"... Really what is the point of this photo? What does it add to the page ? Nothing. It should be deleted and more significant photos put in its place. 121.218.67.123 (talk) 23:29, 9 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

The point of the photo is to provide an image of a competitor in the Melbourne Marathon. You stated that "It should be deleted and more significant photos put in its place". You then deleted the photo but did not replace it. You're welcome to replace it with an alternative photo, but to remove it without replacing it detracts from the article.
