This is one of the most comprehensive Medici family trees I've seen anywhere. It does however give the impression that although Giovanni de' Medici died in 1429, he continued having children starting in 1431 and continuing into the following century! In particular I understand that the following persons were father-son-grandson-greatgrandson and not siblings:- - Pierfancesco the Elder (1431-1476) - Giovanni the Popolano (1467-1498) - Lodovico (Giovanni dalle Bande Nere, 1498-1526) - Cosimo I (1519-1574) - Francesco I (1541-1587) Since I last looked at this site, there seems to be some branches missing (indicated by continuing lines at bottom). The Horizontal family tree would be difficult to understand by someone unfamiliar with the Medici Family. Request for external link to interactive Medici Family Tree edit
I'm seeking consensus from this community to include a link to this page: http://beckydaroff.com/arthistory/medici/. This is an interactive family tree of the 'key members' of the Medici Family tree (those directly related to the Grand Dukes), 1400-1737. Users can mouse-over each member of this tree to see a portrait of that Medici family member, as well as a brief biography. This is a not-for-profit project. I do not benefit in any way from additional visits to my site, other than the gratification that a stranger might learn more about this fascinating dynasty because of my project. Cleanup required edit
While the recent merge was necessary to avoid a content fork, it has produced a page that is entirely unwieldy, filled with trivial genealogy on non-notable people (in addition to the notable ones), and has so many charts that it takes way to long to load. I am going to start wholesale deletions unless someone else starts trimming or can justify the page remaining as it stands. Agricolae (talk) 04:57, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
Ottaviano's descent edit
This is my first time editing a family tree like this, so I apologise if I haven't got things quite correct. I have added the ancestors of Ottaviano (husband of Francesca Salviati).
In the Root Medici Tree, there are included the ten children of Lucrezia de' Medici (1470–1553) and her husband Jacopo Salviati. Two of these married Medicis, but the others didn't. I propose removing the eight Salviatis who did not marry Medicis. Noel S McFerran (talk) 08:02, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
