History section edit

Whats the deal with the NRL specific history doing on this page? Should it not be on the NRL page? POds 06:36, 4 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Yeh you may as well remove it altogether. I put it there, it was my first page, there's not much point in it being there. Thanks AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 12:01, 4 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

This page has been basically copied from the McIntyre System page which inaccurately portrayed the McIntyre Final Eight System as the only McIntyre system. The following are the comments on that page:

  • This is the first full page I've done - just quickly to link to the National Rugby League page. I am aware the system operates in other competitions, not sure which ones - thankyou to the person who added English competition. I'm not sure whether the History in the NRL section should be there, but I left it anyway for someone to get rid of if it is irrelevent. Please let me know of problems with my page, so I can learn...Thanks - AlbinoMonkey.

Different McIntyre Systems edit

  • I just found out there are more than one form of the McIntyre System - it actually started in 1913 as a Final Four system, and Ken McIntyre has created several different versions, including Final Six and Final Eight, the one discussed on this page. Should there be a different page for each one, or just different sections on this one page. I will make necessary changes once I have researched each more. - AlbinoMonkey

- The McIntyre systems were used in the VFL/AFL between 1931 and I think 1999. They have been known as the McIntyre Final Four, Final Five, Final Six and Final Eight. There were two Final Six systems - the first one used in 1992 was deemed insatisfactory. See the book "The Complete Book of AFL Finals" by Graeme Atkinson for detailed information.

The remainder is discussion on this page:

Complexity edit

Why oh why does this system have to be so bloody complicated? :-) I've re-written and re-written in an effort to make it understandable by Joe Public, a lot of what I had to work with being written in doublespeak or or somesuch, but there are still one or two paras which just don't flow.
