There has been some inconsistency in use of dates for eras in this article. The guidelines for dates are set out in the Manual of Style WP:MOSNUM and specifically the section on WP:ERA. The relevant provisions of that section are the following:
"Do not change the established era style in an article unless there are reasons specific to its content. Seek consensus on the talk page before making the change. Open the discussion under a subhead that uses the word "era". Briefly state why the style is inappropriate for the article in question. A personal or categorical preference for one era style over the other is not justification for making a change...
Use either the BC–AD or the BCE–CE notation consistently within the same article. Exception: do not change direct quotations."
The dating convention used when the article was established was Common Era (BCE/CE).[1]. Inconsistencies crept into the article after that edit (including one by the originating author). There would seem to be good reasons for sticking to the original use of dating. The Maya Devi Temple is a Buddhist shrine. The major articles on Buddhism use Common Era dating and the initial article was consistent with that. For these reasons, I propose that all dates in the article be BCE/CE and will make that change now. Discussion? Sunray (talk) 19:56, 26 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
I saw the inconsistency as well and came here looking for a reason. I agree that it should be fixed and to the Common Era (BCE/CE) notation seems most logical. As of this writing it's been about five days, I'm going to change the article to reflect Common Era notation myself.
