Recent moves edit

This page has recently been moved back and forth between Mau5trap and Maustrap. I’ve moved it back to Mau5trap per MOS:TM, which explicitly restricts us to using styles which are in use by sources, which as far as I can tell “Maustrap” is not—certainly not by any of the sources this article cites. It should stay at this name (with a numeral in it) until and unless this situation changes. —Frungi (talk) 05:49, 28 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

If the title is up for debate, a discussion should be raised. There is no justification for moving this based on the reasoning on the deadmau5 talk page. They are different entities that should be considered case-by-case. Thanks for moving this back Frungi. Nb07wiki (talk) 07:18, 29 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I wasn't the first to move it back, just the first to explain why it shouldn't have been moved. —Frungi (talk) 07:42, 29 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Besides which there was no discussion for this move. It has been contested so discussion should occur to avoid a repeat of what is currently happening at Talk:Deadmaus. PantherLeapord (talk) 08:58, 29 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
It's pointless to re-discuss the merits of the arguments here right now, and it's silly to be moving the article in either direction. We should just wait until the Deadmaus/Deadmau5/deadmau5/Zimmerman discussion is more settled first. —BarrelProof (talk) 15:07, 29 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please discuss BEFORE moving edit

If you want to move this article please initiate a move request and let that take it's course BEFORE making any move so that people can discuss it rather than just moving it without so much as a "how do you do"! PantherLeapord (talk) 12:16, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • I've move-protected the article, to stop this tit-for-tat move-warring. Get a consensus if you want to move it, and then ask an admin to do it. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 12:30, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
    • That goes for lowercasing the title too. MOS:TM still exists. Contentious titles should be discussed before being changed. —BarrelProof (talk) 20:57, 28 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Why are we excluding deadmau5's discography from the releases section? edit

Seems a little odd that we're excluding his releases under this label? Even if he founded this label, the label is still publishing his music, so why exclude? Aerhx (talk) 22:45, 29 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Because there is a separate article dedicated to his discography Lazz_R 12:16, 12 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Move discussion in progress edit

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Deadmau5 which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 14:02, 17 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Lowercase in article body edit

(MOS:TMCAPS)

Publications like udiscovermusic, BBC, BroadwayWorld, and MSN, let alone mau5trap itself, write "mau5trap" in lowercase. I can only really find "Mau5trap" on social media posts or here on Wikipedia. Shall we write "mau5trap" in lowercase where it occurs within an article on Wikipedia? (I noticed this at Matt Lange and was about to change it, but then realized it was this way for this whole mau5trap article.)

Note that I'm not talking about the article's name, but only instances of "Mau5trap" within sentences inside articles.

An old talk section at the Deadmau5 page said mau5trap was written both ways in that page's references, but that's not true [anymore]. Only two references there have "mau5trap" in the title; one all-lowercase and one with a capital 'M', but if you visit that article, you see that the body of the article does in fact write "mau5trap" in all-lowercase. The justification given by supporters in that talk section were "pretty much just an edgy styling choice" and "disruptive stylisms"; these are opinionated and apparently wrong given the common usage in publications including references at the Deadmau5 page.

Anyway, significantly more than half of the references on this page do use the all-lowercase form [today, though maybe that wasn't the case years ago].

Regardless of the Deadmau5 capitalization, I think mau5trap in lowercase makes sense according to MOS:TMCAPS.
