The Metaphor (SPOILER)
editTo me, all the characters are not people of a planet, but rather the entities of a planetary system; Masaka, the Sun; Korgano, a prinicipal moon of the planet whose inhabitants built the array. Every "person" is a planet, a comet, a fragment of a system that went nova. The survivors of the catastrophe built a record of the system from the point of view of the system's entities, rather than the survivors' view.
That's my take on it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.234.213.66 (talk) 16:49, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
The first rogue planet was not discovered until 2012
editThis may be true, but the concept was discussed long before TNG came along. Isaac Asimov mentions their theoretical existence in his 1979 book A Choice of Catastrophes. Sophie means wisdom (talk) 17:32, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
