His hometown edit

it was announce that Martin Yan is from Toisan (Taishan, Guangdong) according to this site: http://www.asiawind.com/pub/forum/fhakka/mhonarc/msg01507.html

  • In his book, The Yan Can Cook Book, 1981 edition, it says Martin Yan was born and raised in Kwongchow, China, which is the Romanized name for Guangzhou, so Guangzhou, Canton, or Kwhongchow, is correct.Easeltine (talk) 18:35, 3 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Is the show still on? edit

Does anyone know if this show is still on? I am extremely keen to see it as I get Martin Yan confused with Stephen Yan. Does it ever air anymore? Thanks. - Abscissa 23:19, 7 March 2006 (UTC) Yes, it is still on.Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Yancan.jpg edit

Image:Yancan.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Wok With Yan edit

I remember a show called Wok With Yan. Can anyone verify if he had a show called that or if it was just Yan Can Cook? Mr. C.C. (talk) 10:10, 29 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Protection edit

Could we have some protection on this page? Getting lots of vandalism from unreg'd users. W00d (talk) 15:49, 29 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

...IF edit

His motto for his show, Yan Can Cook, is not showing in the article, or on the Talk page. It is, "If Yan Can Cook, So Can You!"Easeltine (talk) 18:41, 3 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

"Hong Kong chef" edit

by what measure is he a "hong kong chef"?! he's been in the states since college, his career has been entirely US-based, his ventures into HK or anywhere else in asia have been minimal at best. "HK chef" implies someone active/famous primarily in HK.

he's an "american chef", pure and simple. "originally from HK" or "specializing in HK food" can be squeezed in later. 2601:19C:527F:A660:448D:6329:71FD:987C (talk) 17:12, 25 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
