I agree.

There is no proof that Maria has ever been given detention or has a unibrow. But she is Greek-American, she does speak Greek fluently (But not with an American accent), she is a big fan of all Boston teams, she is extremely ticklish, there are rumors about a relationship with Diesel, her dress at the 2004 Oscars were worth about 2.5 million, & she didn't know about ESC until she was asked to host it together with Sakis, as she's both born & raised in the U.S.

Also, she has mentioned that she was raised in poverty, even though Medford is a predominantly white, middle-class suburb of Boston, with an average income of 52.476$ a year, according to the 2000 census. But maybe Medford has been gentrified, like Harlem, maybe Medford was once a poor working-class community, with much more crime (According to http://www.city-data.com/city/Medford-Massachusetts.html the crime-rate according to the 2003 census was 170.2, just above half of the national crime-rate, which is 329.7. That's pretty low, & normal for a middle-class suburb) The inner-city Boston has much higher crime rate (According to http://www.city-data.com/city/Boston-Massachusetts.html the crime-rate is 559.8 according to the 2003 census).

According to the 2000 census, about 6,4% of Medford's population live below the poverty line, that must be about 3.500 people, but maybe there's a trailer park, a public housing project or some Section 8 area in Medford.

Crime in Meffu is mostly minimal except possibly for large amounts of mafia, also a (very) large amount of police corruption. I know of no poverty areas but I'm sure poor families exist. "Can't sleep, clown will eat me" is vandalising this article, he's removing trivia & external links, all for nothing, could someone please stop him before he removes the entire article, he should be banned from editing Wikipedia (Or at least banned from editing this article).

Then I wonder who put up the unsourced trivia.

Some trivia are, in fact, sourced & true, but still I wonder who came up with that "Detention for going to a Red Sox game"-thing, but you shouldn't remove the sourced trivia & the external links, that's unecessary (I'm not from an English-speaking country, I hope I didn't spell wrong, I'm always having trouble trying to spell "necessary").

Shouldn't there be a biography about Maria?

Shouldn't there be a biography about Maria (For instance: Her childhood or personal life). It would be good to put up that information in this article, just in case there are enough sources about her childhood or personal life already.

..it says she produced a film that was the first Indie Fairy tale. That's hardly believable and sounds like something you might find in a press release as fluff. I was a film buyer the year she is purported to have produced that, 1995, and I can assure you that there were independent films years before hers, both features and shorts, with storylines that could be considered fairy tales. Anyone can take out a film encyclopedia and discover the same truth. I guess it depends on your definition of "indie". Please fix this and/or make it more credible. Discrepancy

At the top of the page in the info box it is stated that Maria Menounos was Miss Massachussetts (That's a lot of 'M') in 1995, while on the timeline at the bottom of the page, and in the article it states she was MM in 1996. Maybe I'm misreading, maybe it needs to be edited...

Language

As some of you might have seen my complaint on the main page (I was told to ask elsewhere), why do Greek-Americans have their names in Greek? Mari Menounos was born in Massachusetts, not Greece. Is this customary for other Americans with "more-ethnic" families such as German or Chinese Americans? Kostantino888Z (talk) 20:07, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

In general just being Greek would not warrant her name to be in Greek letters as well, but since she is also known in Greece (hosted ESC 2006) then its okay. If she just so happened to be Greek, then it would be unnecessary, but due to her connection to the country and notability there, its okay to have it. Serious Math issue here.

Article says she was born in 1968, but was competing for a Ms. Teen UMASS in 1995-6? That would have made her 27 or 28 at the time. How was she competing on the TEEN pageant circuit at the time?Sardonicone (talk) 00:05, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Nationality

If you look at the guidelines below Nationality "only" belongs in the lead not ancestry, unless it is at the core for her being notable or you can provide a source that states she also has legitimate Greek Citizenship  ! She is American we know this Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(biographies)#Opening_paragraph --Wikiscribe (talk) 05:28, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

Greece allows for dual citizenship and so does the USA. Greeks born abroad may transmit citizenship to their children from generation to generation indefinitely. Most Greek-Americans take full advantage and apply and hold Greek passports especially if they are to work in both countries or visit them both often. Otherwise they would need to apply for time consuming visas all the time. This means that Menounos, by having two parents that are both Greek citizens (born in Greece who became naturalized Americans) makes her automatically a Greek Citizen. Menounos is well known in Greece, visits often, has worked there before and by all accounts, is fluent in speaking the Greek language. All these facts can only suggest that she has some sort allegiance to Greece. Hence Greek-American can be applied here.

Gas station TV
