Too listy edit

It looks as if we'll have to rename this article List of people who were born or grew up in a manse sometime soon. Edward Waverley 13:19, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

What Happened to the Traditional Meaning of This Term? edit

This article is written from a very, very Anglo-centric perspective... The origins of this term, "manse," while eventually coming to be associated with Scots, had nothing to do with them originally... It had to do with the manorial system of the serfs working on Church land in mainland Europe... This article sucks at best and needs to be rewritten at worst... I agree. The article is pretty poor. You seem to know something about the topic. Pardon my bluntness, but don't you fix it? Blarneytherinosaur gabby? 12:29, 4 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I also agree, but I don't have the knowledge to fix it. See manor for overlapping coverage. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 13:01, 10 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed article merger edit

I propose that Manse be merged into Clergy house. There doesn't seem to any great amount of information contained in the former which isn't already, or couldn't be, covered by the latter. The Clergy house article also seems to cover all other types/names of such dwellings (e.g. rectory, vicarage), with only Manse having a separate article. The Manse article doesn't, in my opinion, spell out precisely why it ought to be treated independently in this way. Grunners (talk) 11:37, 28 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
