Talk:Malev (military unit)

Correspondence with brigade edit

I do not fully buy the claim that a malev corresponds to a brigade. While the charter of the Defence League states that a new malev may be formed out of 2000 Defence League members, this does not necessarily mean a 2000-soldier force comprising battalions and companies. A malev is nowadays more of an administrative division than a fully operative military unit. And in any case, before World War II, malevs seem to have corresponded to regiments (more or less). Therefore I propose that the interwiki links to articles on brigades in other wikis be removed. Any objections? Ohpuu (talk) 14:33, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

This is a foreign word and doesn't belong in the English Wikipedia. It's not a loan word. Although this content could be included in an article on Estonian military, it should not exist as an article in and of itself. Coastside (talk) 05:53, 20 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
