In 1970, Magda performed the title role in Fedora with the New Jersey State Opera Company at Symphony Hall in Newark, NJ under the direction of its founder, Maestro Alfredo Silipigni. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.176.247.32 (talk) 02:15, 24 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

With a war on and newly married, some 'time out' was not a bad idea - but did it last 10 years? And who persuaded her to come back?
I have just found a copy of her CD in the 'Grandi Voci alla Scala' (Fabbri Editione) series.
There is the finale to Act 1 of la Traviata, under Tansini, dated 7-Aug-40, Cetra BB25034, which is consistent with a 1941 withdrawal from performance, but there follow 6 recordings in 1949-50, all under Simonetto:
- Donde lieta usci (Boheme) and Senza mamma (Suor angelica) on 5-Dec-49
- Da quell di (Louise) and In qelle trine morbide (Lescaut) on 6-Dec 49
These are on Cetra BB 25271 and 25272
- Sola perduta abbandonata (Lescaut) and the rare Dio pietoso (Alfano - Resurrezione) on 14-Nov-50, Cetra BB 25277
Maybe Simonetto persuaded her back to the studio, before Cilea brought her back to the stage? .John M Brear (talk) 10:51, 27 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
Maybe those (1949–50) were studio recordings? -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 12:02, 27 July 2014 (UTC)Reply
I've read on an email list that Olivero's absence was only until 1945. Seems like more research is needed for this "story" of her temporary absence. - kosboot (talk) 15:09, 4 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
